The Vent app is gone. Here is what to do now.

If you typed vent.co this year and got a blank page, you already know what happened.

It is gone. The app that let you post your feelings anonymously, pick a mood, find people who got it, say the thing you could not say to the people in your life. Gone. No warning, no migration, no successor. Just a 404 where your outlet used to be.

For a lot of people that is not a small thing. Vent was not a social media app. It was not entertainment. It was the place you went at 11pm when you could not sleep and you needed to put something down somewhere before it ate you alive. The place you found other people who were carrying the same thing you were carrying without having to explain the whole backstory.

That matters. Losing that matters.

There is a specific grief in losing a place like Vent that is hard to explain to people who never used it. They will say just text a friend. Just call someone. They mean well and they are completely missing the point.

The point was that some things cannot be said to people who know you. Not because you do not trust them. Because you love them too much to put the full weight of it on them. Or because the thing you need to say would change how they see you. Or because you have not figured it out yourself yet and you need to say it out loud somewhere before you can know what it actually is.

Vent understood that. It built a space specifically for that.

The question now is where that space exists.

The honest answer is that text is not the same. Typing your feelings and reading them back is different from hearing your own voice say the thing. Voice carries what text hides. The shake in it. The pause before the hard sentence. The moment you trail off because you have reached something true and it surprises you.

If you lost Vent and you are looking for somewhere that actually gets why you needed it, Ekcho might be the closest thing to what you were looking for. Anonymous. Voice-based. No real name. No followers to manage. Just your voice and the thing you actually need to say.

It is not Vent. Nothing will be Vent. But it might be the next thing that helps.

Something has been sitting with you. You do not need your name attached to it.

Say it on Ekcho
