Ekcho ("Ekcho", "we", "us", "our") is a voice broadcasting platform operated by Pratesh John Mathew, an individual developer based in India. Contact: info@ekcho.net
Ekcho allows people to publish and listen to short voice broadcasts under pseudonymous "voice names" — no real names required.
By creating an account or using Ekcho, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Ekcho. You must be at least 13 years old to use Ekcho. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian's permission.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Ekcho under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).
You register with a voice name — a pseudonym of your choosing. You do not need to provide your real name. Your voice name must be unique and must not impersonate another person, brand, or public figure.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. We cannot recover lost passwords. During registration, you are shown a passphrase — store it somewhere safe. Accounts cannot be transferred.
You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban is a violation of these Terms.
You may broadcast any voice content that complies with our Community Guidelines. You retain ownership of your voice and your content. By broadcasting on Ekcho, you grant Ekcho a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, distribute, and moderate your content for the purposes of operating the platform.
This licence ends when you delete your broadcast or close your account, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain data.
You must not broadcast content that:
We use automated moderation (OpenAI Moderation API and audio transcription) to detect prohibited content. Prohibited content will be removed. Serious violations may result in immediate account termination and reporting to law enforcement.
Ekcho takes content involving self-harm or suicidal ideation seriously. Our moderation pipeline detects such content and automatically delivers mental health support resources to the broadcaster privately. We do not automatically remove such broadcasts unless the content presents a severe and immediate risk of harm to the broadcaster or others.
If you are in crisis, please reach out: iCall (India): 9152987821 · Vandrevala Foundation: 1860-2662-345 (24/7).
We reserve the right to remove any content, suspend any account, or terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without notice, if we believe these Terms or our Community Guidelines have been violated.
If your broadcast is removed, you will receive a notification explaining why. You may appeal moderation decisions by contacting us at trust@ekcho.net within 14 days.
We comply with lawful orders from Indian courts and government authorities under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and associated rules.
Ekcho Pro is a paid subscription available monthly or annually. Credits are a virtual currency that can be used to tip broadcasters. All payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (a third-party payment processor). We do not store your payment card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from Settings — your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. Credits are non-refundable and have no cash value. We take a 15% platform fee on all credit tips before disbursement to broadcasters.
Refunds on subscriptions: if you cancel within 48 hours of an initial purchase and have not used Pro features, contact us at billing@ekcho.net for a full refund.
The Unmask feature allows two users who have an established messaging relationship to voluntarily and simultaneously exchange limited personal details (e.g. a first name, city, or social media handle). Both parties must actively choose to unmask — neither can see the other's detail until both have committed. Once shared, details are permanent and cannot be unseen or deleted.
You must not use details obtained through Unmask to harass, stalk, or contact another user outside of Ekcho without their consent.
Ekcho, the Ekcho name, logo, and all platform software are owned by Pratesh John Mathew. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of Ekcho without our written permission.
If you believe content on Ekcho infringes your copyright, please see our Copyright Policy.
Ekcho is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that Ekcho will be available at all times or that content on the platform is accurate, safe, or appropriate. Broadcasts reflect the views of individual speakers, not Ekcho.
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, Ekcho's liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of Ekcho is limited to the amount you paid Ekcho in the 12 months before the claim arose, or ₹5,000, whichever is less.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kottayam, Kerala, India.
Before initiating legal proceedings, we ask that you contact us at legal@ekcho.net to attempt resolution. We will respond within 14 working days.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Ekcho after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
