Ekcho ("Ekcho", "we", "us", "our") is a pseudonymous voice platform operated by Pratesh John Mathew, an individual developer based in India.
General enquiries: info@ekcho.net
Ekcho allows people to publish and listen to short voice broadcasts, send private voice messages, maintain a private voice journal, and connect with listeners through spontaneous listener rooms and voice neighbourhoods — all under pseudonymous voice names. No real names required.
By creating an account or using Ekcho, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Ekcho. You must be at least 13 years old to use Ekcho. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian's permission.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).
You register with a voice name — a pseudonym of your choosing. You do not need to provide your real name. Your voice name must be unique and must not impersonate another person, brand, or public figure.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. During registration, you are shown a passphrase — store it somewhere safe. Accounts cannot be transferred.
You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban violates these Terms.
Ekcho currently offers the following features at no cost:
Ekcho is free to use. There are no paid plans or premium features at this time.
When you create an account on Ekcho, you will be asked to complete the Voice Game — a series of seven questions asked over seven days. Participation is required as part of onboarding. After day 7, the game continues with AI-generated follow-up questions delivered every three days.
Not therapy. The Voice Game is a self-discovery experience. It is not therapy, counselling, clinical treatment, or a substitute for professional mental health support. Ekcho makes no clinical claims about outcomes. If you are experiencing a mental health difficulty, please seek support from a qualified professional. A directory of international crisis resources is available at findahelpline.com.
Your answers are public. Each answer you record is published as a voice broadcast under your voice name and is visible to all users of Ekcho. Your real identity is never attached to these broadcasts.
AI processing. Your voice responses are transcribed by OpenAI Whisper and processed by Anthropic Claude to generate personalised follow-up questions for your journey. Neither OpenAI nor Anthropic use data sent via their APIs to train their AI models under their standard API terms. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train any AI models.
Deleting a Voice Game broadcast. If you delete a broadcast that was a Voice Game answer, the broadcast is removed from the feed and from public access. Your underlying response to that question is retained so your journey can continue. If you wish to have your response removed entirely you must delete your account.
The Real badge. If the AI determines — based on sustained evidence across your responses over time — that you have genuinely engaged with the journey, you may be awarded the Real badge. This badge is displayed on your profile and broadcast cards. It is permanent and cannot be transferred.
The freedom verdict. At a certain stage of the journey the AI may present a statement about what it believes your journey has revealed and ask you to confirm it. You may accept or reject it. Rejection continues the journey.
You retain ownership of your voice and your content. By broadcasting on Ekcho, you grant Ekcho a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, distribute, and moderate your content for the purposes of operating the platform. This licence ends when you delete your broadcast or close your account, subject to any legal retention obligations.
You must not broadcast content that:
We use automated moderation (OpenAI Moderation API and audio transcription) to detect prohibited content. Prohibited content will be removed. Serious violations may result in immediate account termination and reporting to law enforcement.
Your Voice Journal entries are private by default — only you can hear them. You may choose to share an entry via a time-limited public link (valid for 7 days) or publish it permanently as a broadcast on the feed.
Journal entries are stored on our servers associated with your account. If you delete your account, all journal entries and their audio files are permanently deleted. Shared links stop working immediately on deletion.
Voice neighbourhoods are persistent connection spaces formed when users encounter each other in a listener room. You can control your visibility within a neighbourhood at any time. You may leave or remove members from a neighbourhood, and you may block any user to prevent future contact across the platform.
Ekcho includes an AI Radio feature which broadcasts AI-generated voice content on a curated schedule. These broadcasts are produced using AI text generation and AI voice synthesis (ElevenLabs). They are clearly presented as AI Radio in the app. No user personal data is used to generate AI Radio content.
In accordance with the EU AI Act and good practice globally, Ekcho discloses when content is AI-generated. AI Radio broadcasts are labelled as such within the app.
Ekcho takes content involving self-harm or suicidal ideation seriously. Our moderation pipeline detects such content and automatically delivers mental health support resources to the broadcaster privately. We do not automatically remove such broadcasts unless the content presents a severe and immediate risk of harm.

If your broadcast is removed, you will receive a notification explaining why. You may appeal moderation decisions by contacting us at info@ekcho.net within 14 days. We acknowledge all appeals within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days.
We comply with lawful orders from Indian courts and government authorities under the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Ekcho is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that Ekcho will be available at all times or that content on the platform is accurate, safe, or appropriate. Broadcasts and journal entries reflect the views of individual users, not Ekcho.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kottayam, Kerala, India.
Before initiating legal proceedings, contact us at info@ekcho.net to attempt resolution. We will respond within 14 working days.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Ekcho after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
